Openn Invoice vs competitors: 8 ways it is better

Every feature on every plan, tax for 44 countries, bank matching and reminders from your own WhatsApp or email: how Openn Invoice is better than other invoicing apps.

In many apps the useful parts sit on a bigger plan. In Openn Invoice every feature is on every plan; plans only change how many people use it.

Most invoicing apps do the same first step: they make an invoice. Where they differ is everything after it. What the plan you can afford leaves out, whether the tax is right outside one country, who your customers hear from, and whether you can tell who has actually paid. That is where Openn Invoice is built to be better.

1. Every feature on every plan

Many invoicing apps split features by plan. The lowest plan caps how many clients you can bill or how many invoices you can send, and reminders, bank matching or a second currency sit on a bigger plan. Openn Invoice has no feature tiers. Every plan has every feature and unlimited invoices, quotations and credit notes. Plans only change how many people use the app: Starter for one person, Team for up to 3, Business for up to 10, and Enterprise for more. See the pricing page for prices in your currency.

2. Tax that is right in 44 countries

Many apps are built for one country and stretched to the rest. Openn Invoice works out VAT, GST or sales tax for 44 countries, with each country's tax name, rates and financial year for invoice numbers. EU reverse charge and zero-rated exports are worked out for you. In India, CGST and SGST or IGST follow the place of supply, with HSN or SAC codes and GSTR-1 ready reports.

3. Built for billing across borders

An invoice to a client abroad starts in their currency, and your totals and reports are converted back to yours. No calculator, no second spreadsheet and no upgrade to unlock it. More in our guide to billing clients abroad.

4. You know who has paid, not just what you sent

Most apps stop at sending. Openn Invoice reads your bank statement as Excel, CSV or PDF, on any plan, and pairs each payment with its likely invoice by invoice number, amount and payer name. You press “Yes, match” and the invoice is Paid. Part payments and one payment for several invoices are handled. See how matching works.

Sending is half the job. Openn Invoice reads your bank statement and marks the invoice Paid once you confirm the match.

5. Your customers hear from you, not from an app

Many apps email your customers from their own servers, on their own schedule, from an address your customers do not know. Messages like that land in spam, or go out the day after a customer told you they were paying. In Openn Invoice, invoices and reminders go from your own WhatsApp or your own email app, already written, in one click. Customers see your name, and nothing is sent without you. You also see when a customer first opens the invoice link.

6. Paid in one tap, to your own account

Every invoice has a pay link and a QR code for the amount still due. It uses your own payment link from the service you already use, so you are not tied to an app's own payment service and its fees. In India, rupee invoices get a UPI QR code with the invoice number already in the payment note.

7. Simple enough to use from your phone

No ledgers, journals or charts of accounts to learn. Buttons say what they do, and statuses are the ones you would use yourself: Draft, Due, Overdue, Part paid, Paid. It runs in the browser on any phone or computer, with nothing to install, and each person on your team gets their own login and role.

8. Your data stays yours

2-step sign-in is on by default, data is encrypted in transit and backed up every night, and it is never sold or shared for ads. You can download all your data as CSV at any time, even after your plan ends. And you can bring your customers and products in from another app or a spreadsheet as CSV. Our guide to switching from Excel walks through it.
