FAQ
Questions from Kenya.
Can I issue official invoices in Kenya from Openn Invoice?
KRA requires businesses to issue invoices through eTIMS for them to count as valid tax invoices. Openn Invoice is not connected to eTIMS, so in Kenya use it for quotations, reminders and keeping track of who has paid.
I am not registered for VAT. Can I still use it?
Yes. Leave the KRA PIN empty in settings and send invoices with no VAT on them. They are titled “Invoice” instead of “Tax Invoice”. VAT registration is required once taxable sales reach KES 5 million a year.
Can I bill customers outside Kenya?
Yes. Pick the customer’s country and currency on the invoice. A customer abroad is billed as an export, with no VAT added. You see the reason on the invoice before you send it.
What does it cost in Kenya?
Free covers 5 invoices a month. Pro is Ksh 499 a month or Ksh 3,999 a year, with unlimited invoices, recurring invoices and bank statement matching. Prices exclude VAT.
